Specialty Courts provide interventions to reduce incarceration and specialize in areas such as substance abuse and mental health or special populations like veterans. The specialty courts provide treatment alternatives to incarceration that address the underlying issues directly and, as a result, produce better outcomes for the participants. Our researchers are instrumental in working with county and municipal courts to determine the effectiveness of these programs and increase these alternatives to incarceration.
